You can't expect somebody to be all in if they're toying around with the protocol. You also shouldn't follow somebody on the condition they follow you or meet some sort of "follow quota" but because they post things you like.

Not to mention no point in needing to publicize that you dislike a person and are no longer following them.

This feels unnecessarily negative and assuredly not a good first impression for somebody new.
