Self-custodial zaps are not (yet?) suitable for use when onboarding most people on #nostr . Perhaps one day they will be, but right now they're not.

Cashu zaps fix this

No they don't fix the custody issue. Cashu is fully custodial unless you're the operator of the node that backs the mint.

Cashu is the best solution to offline receives. Temporary custody while you're offline where the claim to SATs are encrypted DMs that only you and the sender know about is a totally sane tradeoff. Can't be censored, can be private, can't be individually rugged, can flush to self custody whenever you're online.

Cashu does fix this* but best way is be their uncle Jim, which you may or may not want to do

*additional education step and not fluid motion to #zap yet

ecash is bearer instrument, which was issued to user by giving them your sats. You sell your sats to the mint for ecash, only praying you can redeem said sats at future date

Far too complex for new user to understand and use fluidly

Much more work to do

I can't even use self custody zaps and I work on ln and nostr

Nah bruh you're just not a real bitcoiner. Check out these 27 guides I've pasted below on how to do it easily.

Couldn't zap u because custodial doesn't even work from my custodian

Lightning is the best!

Totally agree. Zaps from my node work 1 out of 20 times, if I’m lucky🥲

Not many people are using self-custodial lnaddress ln nodes to recieve zaps, and for good reason. You can move them off a custodial ln node when the amount becomes concerning.
