Was it ever not corporate media?
All the social media giants are just marketing and surveillance machines. Twitter was never different from Facebook in that respect.

True, what's surprising is the dichotomy of first restoring almost banned accounts in the name of absolute free speech, and now making a division between paying and non-paying people.
Doesn't make sense. Forcing KYC and payment is equally anti free speech as banning people who deviate from the MSM narrative.
I'm with you 100% there. But I don't think Elon ever actually cared about free speech. He just knew taking that angle publicly would create controversy and free press. Credit where it's due, he's good at trolling the MSM.
But if he did care about free speech and censorship he'd be making Twitter a decentralised protocol - this wouldn't even be difficult given his connections to Jack Dorsey. He talked about this idea before he bought Twitter and hasn't spoken a word about it or taken any action towards it since.
At least it's good for Nostr adoption.
Elon promised Twitter would be a decentralised protocol with built in crypto payments and microtransactions.
Nostr did it in a few months and the only thing that seems to have happened at Twitter is paid ticks.
