Tailwind CSS , taking it for a spin. Took me a while to figure it out. Never heard of node. js before, still don't really know what it is . Is it common in web development to not really understand the tools your using ?

I'd say there are lots of people that don't know their tools and work by googling and copy/paste a lot.
