Curtis Yarvin makes an interesting point: The word ‘politics’ has a negative connotation, whereas the word ‘democracy’ has a positive connotation, yet they mean the same thing.

Break the word up...poli/poly = many. tics/ticks = blood sucking parasites.
I think Democracy is a process (or rather lack of a process) of truth seeking. Trust is worse. Consensus is better. Science is best.
Politics is kind of orthogonal, and doesn't apply to Trust or Science, which are individual styles of truth seeking vs democracy and consensus which are group styles of truth seeking.
