so many keep saying. and i tend to believe it. but another part of me wonders if tge people who say this have more in common with people who say “real communism had never been tried” than they would care to believe.

I've heard this comparison many times.

The difference is that as you get closer and closer to "real communism" you get greater and greater disasters.

As you get closer and closer to "real capitalism" (ie common law, property rights, sound money, etc) you get greater and greater success.
