If you see this sign in your doctor's office, you need a new doctor.

Ego has no place in medicine, and that's all this is. Patients should be encouraged to responsibly seek information related to their care so they can participate in it. To me, that means educating people on how to conduct nonprofessional research (if it's something they're doing or want to do).
Discouraging people from participating in their own care is evil and antithetical to my idea of good medicine. Healthcare professionals should be guides, not dictators.
Thank you. I would not be surprised to find evidence of the "Appeal to Authority" fallacy in every professional setting, like investing, accounting, etc.
It's really disconcerting to see this level of hubris in everything. It's as if only a handful of humans are worthy enough to be able to find information, assimilate and synthesize it for a benefit.

There is a modicum of truth to it though..
All google searches are going to give you is gate kept alleopathic symptom treatment to your medical issues. If you want root cause solutions then you're going to need to search elsewhere
That may be true, but the point is that a "doctor" who displays such a sign is an arrogant bastard who should be avoided at all costs. The sign carries the implication that you have no right to look anything up or do internet searches to learn how your own body works. If you haven't spent at least 6 years being indoctrinated into the medicopharma industry, then this sort of thing is way above your possible understanding, and is best left to the "experts". We all know where that gets us.
Oh I know. We avoid these types like the plague
These takes are great. People will tell you in one breath that the internet has died, it's full of propaganda and bots - but braindead zombies googling their cough can surely get better answers than an experienced doctor? Lol pick one
Sure, there is doctors pushing big pharma agendas and not offering root cause analysis, but i wouldnt take advise from anyone who skips the nuance on this.
You mean you don’t want one that’s pissed off by people using google?
When I was living in London, I once had a doctor google my symptoms in front of me. For me, that was the beginning of the end of the NHS.
