Hurricane Debbie might have claimed its first two victims - but I’m gonna try my best to save them.

I did some research on trying to care for squirrels that are two-three weeks old, but I don’t trust AI.

If anyone out there has some tips on wildlife care, I’m all ears.

These two fell out of a tree when the winds broke a branch. My Golden Wookie sniffed them out and alerted us to them. We left them where we found them overnight to see if momma squirrel would come - but this morning they were shivering and likely dehydrated.

Hoping for someone with experience doing this kind of thing can offer suggestions.

Appreciate some reach with this #plebchain - please re-post and see if we can’t find the one person who has done this before and can help me save these two 🙏

You could try to feed them some water with a syringe (no needle) into the mouth

I have a dropper and was able to get some Pedialyte in them and they went back to sleep. What I do trust of AI is that it said to avoid plain water to not upset their electrolyte balances.

Yeah even better if you have it at hand as long as they aren't eating.

Next step i think would be to get some energy in them (fat, sugar)

It also suggested some very expensive simulated milk that they use for puppies to get them to adds weight. Looking into that now.
