The Odell interview with Lionel Shriver is terrifying. Not because I buy into her end-state argument, but because it gave a glimpse into the mindset of a person without hope. There is no life without hope.

Yes.. it was sad hearing her, and you could really feel her when she said to Odell "I envy you.." because he still has hope thanks to Bitcoin.

We are the hope for the previous generations already in disbelief.

Yeah, that line got me too. I can’t even bring myself to imagine what waking up to that feeling of hopelessness and quiet desperation would be like

Hope her could have more chat with Odell and exit from her dark and hopeless state of mind.. that Incan totally understand and I could relate with her 100%, before discovering Bitcoin.

Oh damn! I got two chapters left to finish The Mandibles and then I’ll def have to give this a listen.

Finished the book, watching podcast interview now, and realizing Lionel is an anagram for Nollie is blowing my mind right now.

It was horrible watching her suffer seeing that she wasn't open to the Bitcoin solution

Sometimes people don’t choose hope because they simply don’t want to

Yes I can't understand this mindset but I have friends like that

For many, they don’t come to Bitcoin. Bitcoin comes to them when they’re ready (which might be never)

Yes I have realized this after banging on and on about Bitcoin to people and they just think I'm a weirdo 😂

That’s what the mandibles is—incredibly objective thought exercise on a helpless liberal mentality.

She said her job is to worry and create doomer thought exercise scenarios and Matts can be to solve them for her.

A lot of people can’t handle the burden of figuring this stuff out because you have to concurrently hold/understand this very bleak outlook of projecting 20th century economics into the near future at the same time as then understanding Bitcoin and how it has significant potential to finally solve the issue. Add in personal life stress and you have a breakdown of the process for most normal people. Exhausting.

Lionel drops the line of thought after she finished writing the book because it is too depressing to maintain w/o a solution.

Odell made a great point, though - Mandibles is entertaining rather than stressful for Bitcoiners because we have hope. It’s the hopelessness that makes burdens seem unbearable. Hope fixes this.

That spark of comprehension is enough of a learning curve that we get to drag most people kicking and screaming into an abundant future.

It sounds like a ponzi scheme to a lot of people.

She needs to unplug, get laid, or something. Did you hear her impromptu talking to her husband when he called her during the podcast? Sounds like she is the alpha

She's also just lazy and said doomerism is a kind of entertainment for her.
