I had the misfortune of being exposed to FM broadcast radio today and discovered that they now put ads in the HD radio data stream.
Advertisers are second on the list of groups I hate. Truly no sense of shame or boundaries.

LOL... I hate to break it to you, but they've had ads on radio for a long time now... It's just a business model to pay for the expensive service... I miss radio...
I don't think you understand. HD radio is upgraded FM radio. It includes track information about what is playing to be displayed on the radio screen, like a streaming service does.
Instead of displaying the song information, they were broadcasting advertisements.
The best products and services don't require ads. They sell themselves.
Imagine when we get to the point where you need to see an add before you can use the toilet.
well, the toilets in the truck stop have those trucking gear ads... but, yeah, if you had to go really badly, and the ad had not finished playing yet to unlock the door!?

If you ever work on the road at all you quickly develop strong opinions about which gas stations have the best restrooms. The ones with add screens are not it.
If it weren't for the regional monopolies, I would avoid any gas station chain with video ads playing on the pumps too.
