Part of what made me quit Twitter was seeing the same content regurgitated over and over, dressed up slightly different to pass as unique.

People were basically competing for audiences and trying to build themselves up as some authority on a subject.

The thing is, you can often tell who is legit and who doesn't know wtf they are talking about, and more often than not it's not the people who are getting the reactions. The real deal folks are usually quiet, nuanced and mind their own business. The loud mouths dumb everything down to the common denominator and build up their audiences.

Well, I got tired of it. I don't know if this is inevitable on nostr as well, but I suspect we'll succumb to the same issues - as more people join and share their knowledge, we'll see the same content repeated over and over.

Twitter is a coliseum of people contending to be a terrible person

I don’t know, but I call it the follower count disease 😂

I just made this up

People well and truly talk nonsense on Twitter

Once you hear it all it’s hard to take in any more. I just want to talk shit and have real conversations and not worry about how many followers I get per day or how many I grew month over month. Ridiculous.

I started to get the sense it was all about performing for the prison warden.

That’s one way to put it 😆

The follower count thing is like a high school popularity contest. Idiots without any substance have thousands of followers for just rambling

Not always but a lot of times yes

You see all that monotony because content is not organic in the first place. That is the product of the platform censoring the opinions they don't like and actively promoting "negative signal" (outright lies) and spam

If Nostr wants to avoid this pattern, it has to allow the biggest possibility of expression for its participants

Nice analysis of "real deal folks" and "loud mouths."
