In formal papers "we" is more common parlance, often because there are multiple authors. But even when singular it may refer to the author and the audience. Use of I would be discouraged if not inappropriate. Because of this I believe that Satoshi Nakamoto is/was a group, or simply mimicking the format, but it's done much better than CSWs best attempts.
