Still making my migration over from Office365 to Proton Business Suite - which gives me Proton Mail, Calendar, VPN, Pass and Drive.

Going to try LibreOffice as the Word/Excel/Powerpoint replacement.

***BUT WHAT DO YOU USE TO REPLACE MICROSOFT ONENOTE?***

I've never been a fan of Apple Notes. I've used Evernote in the past, but interesting to see how many searches pull up migrating FROM Evernote TO OneNote.

I do leverage formatting (fonts, tables, bulleted/numbered/check lists) and I do like the concept of Sections and Pages within Sections for good organization. I also do leverage across multiple devices and share with my wife (across all of her devices).

Standard Notes

now also owned by Proton I believe

i don't know if they do Sections

Hmm - didn't see that as an option with Proton...although they do have Docs...thought that was more to replace Word.

i think Docs is a Google Docs replacement

online collaborative editing

Standard Notes isnt part of their suite. its just a company they bought a year or two ago.

Wish they would have made it part of their suite! I paid $311/yr for 2 users for the entire suite I mention above.

Looks like you would have to jump up to Productivity ($90/yr) to get the folder (Sections) and formatting (RTF) functionality. And would need to bump to $120/yr if I wanted my wife to have access and edit the files.

Getting an emailed copy every day would drive me nuts. I would just hope to carve out space on my Proton Drive and be able to access from all of my devices.

$90/yr for Standard Notes?? 😬

I'm glad I got a paid subscription long ago...

Standard notes is pretty good

Standard Notes has been great for my needs and has been getting even better recently

But if you want the closest OneNote-like feel, Joplin is maybe what you’re looking for (though it doesn’t do tabs quite like OneNote)

https://joplinapp.org/

I've used both. I currently use Joplin with linked notes.

Onenote is a tough one because of it's canvas style

A couple of interesting options that might float your boat though...

Obsidian

Standard Notea, Obsidian, Notesnook or Anytype. Experiment with them all and see which works best for you.

I definitely have my work cut out for me. It is my OneNote notes that will be my biggest challenge to get migrated by 3/21…when my Office365 subscription ends.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions - will research more tomorrow and get to migrating tomorrow/Thursday!

I have really been liking Joplin. I tried out a few other note apps, but Joplin synced to my NextCloud has been what I keep going back to.

Because I had to move quickly, and consider my wife uses some of these notes, it was easiest to go to Apple Notes...which is free for both of us versus a lot of the others required paid subscriptions.

That wasn't the case with Joplin, but I think I had to determine whether I was going to self-host or use their cloud...didn't even see if their cloud was a paid option.

I'll revisit soon because Joplin was mentioned by several folks.
