Say I have a CLN lightning node on an Umbrel or Start9. That lightning node first half of the instructions I get and think I did correctly. Totally separated from the lightning node you need an on chain address to sign that message. I guess that concept is where I’m struggling. Why do you need a separate wallet from the CLN node? Maybe just because I don’t understand the “why” I’m having trouble visualizing how to do it.

Thanks!!!

so your account with Ocean is your on chain address. in order to verify that the bolt12 addresd is owned by the same person as the on chain address, you sign a message using your on chain wallet that controks your on chain address. make sense?

i used sparrow wallet to do the on chain signing, happy to walk you through it 🤙

You need an on chain address because we need a way to pay you if Lightning doesn't work for some reason. There are no accounts, things have to work a little differently.
