I'm extremely bad at elevator pitches. Anyone got a good elevator pitch for a bunch of electronic music artists who are extremely sick of playing shitty platform games to try to get their music out there.

I could start info dumping on them about Bitcoin and nostr and value for value and all this shit, but I don't want to overload them necessarily.

I'd just try to get permission to postSA song as a direct nostr post instead of a link and show them if that post gets zaps or engagement

Weird touch screen error, supposed to say "post a song"

Don't mention bitcoin. Not at the start. This is generally my pitch:

Preface by letting you know I'm not trying to sell you anything. Everything i talk abt can be done with little additional effort and zero cost. Its all parallel to whatever you're already doing.

We all know how shitty and predatory the traditional music industry is. You know better than most! Just like how there's a major disconnect in global affairs between the elites running the world and the regular people trying to live their lives day to day. The music industy treats artists the same way, as nobodies.

What if I told you there was entire parallel industry that already exists, where artists have cut out the middlemen like labels and distribution companies and taken back control of their masters by controlling their own publishing and distribution. Its called v4v or the valueverse. They put out thwir music for free (which you already do on spotify) get paid directly by their fans, and keep, on average, 95% of their gross earnings. Artists earn $0.003 per stream on Spotify. Artists have been earning closer to $0.30-$0.50 in the valueverse. Its not just one app or platform, its an entire thriving interconnected ecosystem of multiple apps and platforms. Automatic splits are integrated and a single upload distributes you content to hundreds of similar supported platforms.

As a sample, check out LnBeats.com to hear the music. Download fountain.fm and listen to Homegrown Hits on Thursday nights if youre looking for a curated weekly "radio show". And contact me if you want help getting set up and start earning *hand physical biz card

And if you have more time:

In this ecosystem you can stop worrying about catering to algorithms or trying to get your voice heard by paying for ads or other non-music bs.

Just a simple upload and your music is out there ready to earn. If your music sucks, this isn't for you. No algos means organic discovery only, just like how it used to be before everything got corrupted and co-opted by the so-called "music industrial complex". No algos so it truly is a cream rises to the top situation.

Your music is awesome though, so i urge you to give it a chance. Who knows it could change your life, you have nothing to lose by giving it a shot.

Okay, I like that, but what do I do about pushback when it comes to, "oh, the people aren't there, therefore I shouldn't give time to these platforms."

Or if they figure out I'm talking about Bitcoin and they massive Bitcoin haters.

For the bitcoin piece of it, I tell them if you don't wanna deal with bitcoin, you can either use this app called fold where you send your bitcoin (like venmo) then they give u a debit card u can spend like any other card and they autocorrect for you.

Or alternatively we can do all the setup for you, cut us in a 3-5% split and we can cash you out into usd periodically.

In the end bitcoin is just the digital money that enables all this. Its like saying you dont like British Pounds. If ppl want to pay you in GBP are you gonna say no and walk away cause you don't like fish and chips?

---

For the "oh ppl aren't there" you basically answer saying its not about the volume. You're earning way more for significantly less effort. And again its nothing more than what you already do. Its way less effort than getting set up with Spotify for example. Try changing your album art on Spotify, its a whole thing.

Also its a growing ecosystem. You're coming in at the perfect time. Groundwork has already been laid, and you're getting in at the start. As the ecosystem grows, so will the volume

If they have time, I also like to show this:

nostr:npub1gnwpctdec0aa00hfy4lvadftu08ccs9677mr73h9ddv2zvw8fu9smmerrq how do you think any current or not yet existing nostr app helps these artists with their job-to-be-done?

That's a really good question. Most of their griping is about getting paid or getting discovered, and so I don't think any existing apps will help them with discovery, so to speak, but it could help them with getting more revenue for their music. One dedicated fan who's willing to pay ten bucks in Bitcoin for an album is going to be more revenue than they'll see from Spotify and Bandcamp, even on Bandcamp Fridays.

As far as the bitcoin talk, reality is, other than those in country and a few others, musicians tend to be on the progressive side. There are some great articles by the nostr:npub1fpcd25q2zg09rp65fglxuhp0acws5qlphpg88un7mdcskygdvgyqfv4sld that speak to the reality of Bitcoin and dispel the myths of it being a right wing anti-environmental scam. One or two of those articles could do wonders.

Yeah, I forget about the Progressive Bitcoiner. I should probably reference them a little bit more considering most of my friends tend to lead towards the liberal side.

I also use links to the articles as responses to the Bitcoin illiterate on Bluesky.

Bless you for braving blue sky. 🤣

"If you have a website, you can host your own music."

No, no,no it has to be much more complicated than that! What kind of scam is this?! 🤣

Short and sweet, and I like that.

What if you were the platform? Like you controlled the means to your own distribution and didn't need to rely on someone else to host and distribute your music?

Steven B is the guy to talk to.

Gogo 😉💪💜🧡

what is exactly an elevator pitch?

short convincing pitch that makes people ask more questions.......I think. Point being it's supposed to be a short blurb.

You could try asking one of the AI models to generate you a draft.

Just general advice I got as someone who is shy and awkward:

1) practice in front of a mirror

2) record it and watch it back

It’s painful as fuck, NgL, but you get better

🤞🏻 best of luck
