No other culture has assimilated English culture more than Indians.
We didn’t just imitate it. We inhaled it, mapped it, and dissected it. We know the brute core inside — the empire logic, the hierarchy obsession, the stiff-upper-lip arrogance.
And we defeated it.
Today, Indians wield English more fluently than the English. We legislate, code, litigate, philosophize, and meme in the language — but we don’t belong to England. The empire’s sharpest tool became our everyday inheritance. What they built to dominate us became the very platform of our victory.
Assimilation wasn’t submission. It was inversion. The colonized took the colonizer’s crown jewel and forged it into a weapon of our own. That’s why the world speaks of “Indian English,” not “English India.”
