Dear NOSTR, is there anyway to run my own NOSTR server were I could pre load my server so I don’t have to re upload a 3TB worth of footage. We need to make sure these war crimes are documented for the rest of history and all of humanity sees what they did to the citizens of GAZA! nostr:nprofile1qqsr7acdvhf6we9fch94qwhpy0nza36e3tgrtkpku25ppuu80f69kfqppemhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mp0qyfhwumn8ghj7am0wsh82arcduhx7mn99umqm93f I’d like to run a dedicated NOSTR node that backs up all GAZA footage if possible so I can show everyone on X an immutable record of history that is engraved for ever

Great idea, but your server would essentially be a single point of failure. Something like this is probably better for torrents (or at least a torrent as a backup in case the server goes down)

I wonder if a blossom server would be suitable.

I know that you can configure most clients to post to multiple blossom servers, but with 3+TB youd probably have to pay a good chunk for anybody else to host it

Ive been thinking of making a POC fork of amethyst with pears.com support for torrent-like media hosting, but it would require a new NIP and would probably be way more of a project than I anticipate lol

I think that could be pretty cool.

I have thought in the past that it would be an interesting business to sell a small piece of hardware that was dedicated to hosting your own nostr relay and media, with a custom GUI to manage the relay for monetisation, aimed at creators and journalists.

I think nostr has a ton of potential as a media archive. I’ve been trying to think of ways to do this sort of thing for a while, but unfortunately haven’t had as much time as I’d like

Nostr relays do not store files, just notes.

Blossom server provides a censorship resistant storage.

Not sure if there is a non-technical method to spin one up.

Also blossom has limitations for large file sizes.

You could run a Haven relay with a built-in Blossom server to store all of your media.
