Please consider this statement which is part of an academic paper on the subject:

"Minor-attracted person is a self-referential term, used to describe an individual who is sexually attracted to individuals under the age of consent, which varies by legal system."

Under the age of consent in California can mean 17 years old. In Germany it means 13 years old. These two age groups have nothing in common. These are two wildly different sets of people. So the term minor-attracted person (MAP) has no precise meaning. (stick with me here...)

in fact the term is so vague as to be totally useless in normal conversation.

As citizens of a democracy *we* are responsible for making laws. *We* have a duty to seriously debate the issues and come to logical conclusions about what is the best policy.
