When someone zaps your DM (they can) from Amethyst it breaks it. Likes also do that! 🐶🐾🫡

I think I had a DM zapped once after helping someone with an issue. I don’t remember if I got the failed to decrypt error but I was surprised when I got the zap. I guess if you are using a client that supports it then you don’t really think about the way other clients deal with it.
