They did this because we used to supply the US with cheap uranium, is my understanding. So long as they could get cheap resources they didn’t care and only later when it was no longer useful did they do the whole “that’s wrong guys” showcase.

Yeah that makes sense. Cheap resources almost always trumps morality.

Happy to see a slow shift though. Hopefully the future will look better for those counties. Burkino Faso has began modest attempts at industrialisation and Afghanistan is even beginning to rebuild its infrastructure. As long as the US stays as far away as possible they might have a chance…
