Thinking of deleting my email addresses and only signing up for services that don’t require one. Just give me a username and password. Email feels old and obsolete. Anyone feel the same?

Nah. Just use Hide My Email with iCloud and generate a new address for every account to keep everything sandboxed.
I already use SimpleLogin for this. I wouldn’t trust iCloud for privacy reasons. The point is generating a new email each time is a nuisance. Email isn’t necessary for creating an account somewhere. These companies just want our data.
What privacy problems do you see with iCloud? If you choose to encrypt your data not even Apple can access it. If you’re already using many emails than why is giving away an email when you create an account an issue?
Well for one to create an Apple ID you need a phone number and for it to stay active. Without that you can’t create or use an account. That’s already a no go for me. So to have an iCloud email they require a phone number.
The issue with giving an email when creating an account is its 100% unnecessary. Look at Nostr for example. Public and private key. Thats all I need.
