Yes, he was

I've advised some family to DCA w/ Swan and auto-withdraw at $500... should I change them over to River? What's the risk lever of your gut... from coldcard and to FTX

Yes

It just feels weird that an exchange would start mining. Makes me think of Celsius and how they started mining to try to fill the hole they had created.

I guess your fam should be OK with that auto-withdraw limit. But I would keep an eye on them nist in case.

🧐🤔👆this.

CashApp or River. CashApp may actually become a best in class wallet with simplified cold as well someday soon. For newbies this is good.

I like CashApp, but I don't know if they have DCA. I have three family members that DCA $100-150 a week w/ Swan, it would honestly be a pain in the dick to switch over. I might just keep an eye on it...

Not sure. I understand. Swan is fine IMO, especially for this DCA use case & immediately moving out to a wallet. Very low risk.

Swan requires kyc and your identification. Its also custodial. This is a non starter for most people who are serious about bitcoin.

But you're worried about phishing email masquerading as trezor emails?

Sounds like a half ass boycott or something lol

They have DCA and if you happen to have direct deposit you can do it with zero fees.

🤔👆

I usually update them with best practices about once a year... just bought my dad the new Trezor Safe 3 and setup a multi-sig with stainless backups. I'll do some research.

Fuck Trezor.

You can dca on cash app

👆automatically I assume.

I manually buy/DCA but this could be the answer nostr:npub10ersjl55em53pwk8pwrswp4j5jg6dacay2hrjuvs6rfa77uwuffsr228r6

Yeah you can do auto buys daily, weekly or every two weeks.

When you click “buy” click “change order type” and then click “auto invest”

Nais

America is amazing. They have apps that cash you out. Pay you for using them.

#ecash

They do, and while they may not have the best fee across all providers, they do allow you to take immediate custody up to $10k per week (for me that’s huge)

Is it possible that River ends up smelling just as fishy as Swan? Still feels hard to trust anything really though haha

Also, what do you think would be an acceptable (I know I’m sure it’s based on risk profile) percentage of BTC to hold with River as opposed to your own cold storage. Is there a standard rule of thumb or is it strictly if you trust yourself more or River more?

Don’t leave anything on an exchange. Just move to your own wallet at a minimum.

Why would you want to leave BTC on River? Are you planning on selling it relatively soon?

Don’t like strike ?

I did a lot with strike in the past but moved off to CashApp as spreads were better & Strike became a little cunty at times.

Appreciate that; will see with cash-app what do I feel is different
