Interesting. What will they feed from or are you trying to fruit directly from that mycelium ball?

I have a log innoculated with lion's mane in my backyard about 2 years ato. It's quite a large log but i have not managed to have it fruit yet. Any tips?

I have tried dunking the log once for 24h but maybe it was during the wrong season.

The block is sawdust and soy hull pellets, so it has plenty of food in it for the mycelium. I fruited it once indoors. I know with logs you aren’t supposed to go too big. How big is it, and where do you live? It could still fruit someday when the time is right. Can you see any growth in it?

Since a picture says more than a thousand words here's more than two thousand words..

I'd say it's about 5 inches in diameter. Some 3ish ft high.

It looks like it maybe could have used a lot more dowels in it. Might not have been enough to take hold, or else it’s just going really slow. How many did you put in?

Thanks i'll keep that in mind for the next log then. For shiitake and oysters this is usually more than enough.

Sorry for the half answer. I put about 25 in it. I'll keep it around for a bit longer, it's occupying no usable space anyway so i can wait a bit longer to see if it will fruit.

Should have added that i live in the netherlands and i find them in the wild occasionally so the climate cannot really be an issue.
