I guess most things in life are like that.

I don’t think anyone owes an ex a period of being single after a breakup. If it’s soon you will have to tread carefully and be considerate when introducing the new person to your friends and family. Especially if it was a long relationship, you’re ex isn’t the only one who will have feelings about the breakup. Just because you’re ready to move on doesn’t mean everyone else will be too. Make sure to check in with yourself about your reasons for moving into a new relationship. Hopefully you have a few trusted people in your life you can lay it all out and they can act as a sounding board. If you just want to date casually and haven’t met someone specifically wait until your separation or divorce is well known amongst friends and family. Knew someone who had to make a very awkward announcement via social media about why he had an online dating profile. Rough guidelines.
