The US war of independence was financed by the inflationary Continental dollar. It was so disastrous that the US founders explicitly banned anything but gold and silver as money in the US constitution.
Don't even get me started on how Weimar Germany's hyperinflation contributed to the rise of Hitler... and what he did to the French Franc on occupied France...
