If this dev verified those apps, why would "following" those apps prove that? Why wouldn't he prefer to sign a specific verification events?

I am saying it's not necessary, not that it wouldn't be better.
Btw, a verification event is only useful/trustworthy as it's signer.
Why can't someone sing a verification event even though he doesn't know shit?
And, how do you determine who is trustworthy in this domain and who is not?
