When I was working in IT after a major project implementation there was an issue with a critical system and while working on fixing the issue with the stake holder he gave me the best piece of advice .... He Said
Joseph, you need to think in concepts. This had a great impact on me and my progress.
You see concepts are always the same however the implementation might look different.
For example if you know how to use an email program and you think in concepts then you can use any email program. The basics will be the same. You will have a mail box, you will have the ability to send emails, receive an emails, delete emails and mark them as spam.
With this understanding you can use any email program even though things might be named differently like spam will be called junk however the functionality will be the same.
By the same token when you learn a skill always think how can I use what I already know while doing something else so I am not learning everything from the beginning?
When I learnt to surf I could already skate so I used the same board skills when surfing. The only new skill to learn was how to popup on the board.
When I learnt how to optimise and secure data networks, the same skills were used to secure and optimise websites and mobile apps. The new skill to learn was how to implement these concepts on a website or an app.
You see when we become conscious of this one piece of advice it enables us to progress faster in many areas.
What was the best piece of advice you were given or that you gave someone?
Here is to starting our day strong … ❤️
