I am wondering if the protocol allows it at all?

That feature is useful, I switch to #0xchat from time to time because of that feature, posting a note to a specific group of people, but having a note nobody can reply, priceless!

With that feature the company I work for would consider getting a precense in Nostr as they do in X for informing clients and PR only.

They don't have a dedicated person for social networks, therefore they won't use a social app without that feature.
