A series of recent studies has documented that the majority of colonists arriving in North America from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and France during the 1589 to 1700 time period were likely of Jewish ancestry. This was determined by examining lists of early North American colonists and comparing them with their descendants' published DNA profiles.
