Just got the 5 Meshtastic nodes I ordered from nostr:npub160t5zfxalddaccdc7xx30sentwa5lrr3rq4rtm38x99ynf8t0vwsvzyjc9

So excited to start my Meshtastic journey! Everything was well packaged and started right up. Cases appear to be high-quality. Included in the package was a copy of the Cipherpunks manifesto, and a flyer about NOSTR.

Thank you and well done, Gary.

Me looking at the tracking page for mine

Me too. Currently the closest node is almost fifty miles away from me. I’m going to guerrilla node the shit out of this little town! My goal with this first five nodes is to create line of sight between my house and my wife’s workplace about eight miles away.

I am looking forward to getting a tdeck. Just testing out some basics first. Currently the closest repeater is about fifty miles away from me. I want to set up a little connectivity around my area, maybe a little guerrilla node placement so I can reach out to other areas and then travel with a tdeck.

Same here--paucity of nodes...but someone has to start...

I have one node I leave up in a front window (RAK box without a screen--battery will last about a week (have to say I'm impressed by teh RAK's low power consumption).

Have a second RAK node with a screen, that is kind of my "receive and monitor" node--and then have the T-Deck (that is my travel node).

T-Deck is still kind of flaky, even with Meshtastic firmware--I can't figure out what nmakes it "sleep" (or not sleep). Sometimes it turns off, and the only way to wake it is with the mouse button, and at other times it never goes to sleep (and chews up the battery in about a day). Hoping they'll solve that at some point.

There's a T-Deck 'Pro' in the works that will have e-paper display and wireless charging (the T-Deck is hard to see in bright sun)--so that'll probably be on order once they're available...

Would like to see the devs work on the power settting a bit more, but I think they're probably concentrating on a full UI re-write for the T-Deck with the larger touchscreen--we'll see...fun times to be involved with #meshtastic

Congrats++ Keith.

Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to following #meshtastic implementation!

Dang, love that whole package!

I have been surprised at how big the Meshtastic community is, and is growing.

I think the appeal is private communication.
