Is water really tasteless and air odourless or is it just brains and bodies filtering it out

Water has taste; water sellers have to make sure it has a certain mineral content or it will taste weird like distilled water, which is actually pure.

Air usually has some odor that depends on whatโ€™s happening around you.

I definitely think we tune these things out and have a concept of neutral which is not actually neutral.

I meant "pure" air and water, as much as that's possible

Our brains just tend to filter them out as โ€˜neutralโ€™ because theyโ€™re so familiar and essential to survival.

This is what I think too. If it wasn't filtered the constant sensation would probably make us go crazy ๐Ÿ˜„

I think it depends where you are.

Some toxic high pollution cities would taste different if you more what Iโ€™m saying

Sad but true. I think after living a while there brain adapts though and filters that, too. Not saying that's a good thing
