It was the fault of both the Jews, who insisted on his death, and the Romans, who consented and even ridiculed him. But in a larger perspective, Jesus was killed because of sin. We have all sinned, Jesus died for each of us. But he did it to free us from sin, not to blame us. Those who accept Jesus as their savior are forgiven and the cross becomes a cause for joy, not guilt.
