Today in 1878, 145 years ago: a flood occurs in Miskolc (Hungary). The Sajó River rises one meter per minute, preventing most of the population from escaping. About 500 people drown. There had already been several severe floods in 1691, 1788, 1813, 1845, and 1853, but this was the worst.​
