Because if you deconstruct it furiously enough, amongst the many, mismatched moving parts that knock together inside Hancock, there's the seed of a potentially really good movie. Maybe even a series.

Bear with me.

When I saw Hancock back in... (checks theMovieDB)... 2008, I loved the premise.

A jaded, substance abusing, joe average asshat, with superpowers he doesn't really want. Getting wasted and nonchalantly and incompetently saving the day - kind of - out of some combo of guilt trips and habit. Saves the life of a well-meaning but kind of clueless social enterprise PR guy, whose job is trying to convince corporations to give stuff to the needy. The two form an unlikely partnership, the PR guy helping Hancock scrub his public image, and Hancock eventually paying him back.
