Is hard money really the reason we don’t build anything beautiful anymore?

The love of God is what used to inspire a project you knew you would never see to completion yourself.

we've also gotten addicted to instant gratification with the internet, microwave ovens, and indoor running water.
The fear of God forced many to hand over what little they had to gain peace in the afterlife.
True, but that’s not what built the cathedrals. That was the aftermath.
These cathedrals took lifetimes to build. People laying the corner stone most likely never sat for mass inside the completed church. The church and fear/ superstition kept people in check, it was the law and order of the time.
It’s a fun read, long but it goes fast.
