Maybe that oughta be the WoT function, when you can somehow sign something together in close proximity of one another that makes them a verified follow
But then people who don't go to conferences and meet ups will never be in the webs? That doesn't seem good. You can always vet as you go. I appreciate when people PSA bad actors so I can unfollow/report/etc.
The internet wasn't ever built with trust in mind.
In person/ physical WoT is best.
WoT may rely heavily today on follows, but follows is not the only trust-relevant data we have to work with. Meeting someone in real life and signing a suitable attestation will be another important source of data for WoT. And there will be a thousand other inputs too.

So many variables to take into account I guess βever truly workβ is up for debate, there could be something out there right now that truly works for someone, even though it might not to me or others..
