How come America doesn't have any tin shack favelas on the outgrowth of any major city? Are our homeless just not motivated, or is it a matter of gathering resources?

Tbh I thought there was that sort of thing. Maybe not corrugated and with power lines illegally ran. Maybe that stuff gets taken down. Only wood allowed?

I've read so many cyberpunk books where it happens I'm shocked it hasn't already. Or if it has it hasn't gotten more coverage. Then again I'm not surprised if America doesn't want it known how bad things have gotten here.

Flammable wood and tarpaulin, shitting on the pavement. Totally fine.

Corrugated metal, big no no

I would imagine the favelas would be considered permanent structures so certain laws would kick in that don't apply to non permanent structures like tents.
