How far away is the hunter with the rifle?
Discussion
Iād say far enough to need to aim, close enough to hit you. Definitely a threat until your team can get them
So at least 1 shot off before I'm able to close the distance and go mano a mano?
Hahah most likely
OK. Final question before I reveal my answer and strategy.
Do the buffalo have traditional horns as used in mating rituals or otherwise serve as skewers that are attached to their skulls?
Are we talking peak form, beefy buffalo males that are ready to seriously fuck shit up in defense of their herd?
Yes. They are some badass buffalo
OK. That's all I needed to complete the strategy.
Going with 7 Buffalo and 10,000 rats, and here is how I emerge victorious.
1) 2,500 rat swarm directed at hunter, with the remaining rats split off into 3 x 2,500 batches to engage the brown bears
2) Direct 7 buffalo at the hunter as a meat shield, me running directly behind them. I expect my pace of running with the buffalo will allow me to briefly escape all other instant predation. A hawk may nip at me. I will assume 1 buffalo will take a fatal hit and will die. I will emerge victorious taking the gun from the hunter. For the sake of argument, the hunter is able to kill one singular rat before they are entirely overcome
3) Bears with 3 swarms of rats are pretty fucked up and almost dead by now for the sake of argument. Assume loss of 100 rats per bear. Leaving me with ~9,500 rats in fighting condition
3) Three buffalo surround me forming a triangle upon obtaining the rifle
4) I take the prone position, with the rifle, and command 200 rats to lie on top of me physically acting as a meat shield from the hawks
5) The triangle of buffalo will fuck the gators up real bad, so will not be an immediate concern, so it becomes a coin-toss between either the gorillas or lions.
6) The remaining 3 buffalo run around in a circular formation around the triangular protective formation, and start goring incoming lions and gorillas
7) I expect to lose at least two of the circular running buffalo, leaving me with 4 buffalo.
8) Hawks are starting to fuck up the 200 rats providing my physical cover at this point, but I've got the gun, and I'm starting to take out the crocodiles with measured, accurate shots. Will assume a Browning .50 Cal Bolt Action One-Shot, One-Kill
9) The remaining rats have engaged the remaining wolves. It'll be a near-wipeout, but I expect to be left with 500 rats - Assuming any wolves have not yet been killed by the prior rotunda of shield-buffalo
10) My three protective buffalo have been taking heavy damage by the hawks and are going to bleed out eventually, but aren't out of the fight just yet. They've likely skewered a few hawks by now, so lets cut their population down to at least 25 by now
11) Approximately 10 minutes have elapsed by now
12) I should now have eliminated enough of the opposition that I can take my time with the .50 Cal and finish everything else off
13) Likely left with 1 crippled buffalo who is gonna make it and a handful of rats deserving a nice retirement in a grassy field. No hawks around. Life is good. Great new set of alligator skin boots.
... in theory, anyway
This is a truly impressive answer. Wish I could zap you for the time you invested!
