I'm starting to realize that the reason my star9 took a month to sync was cause it was downloading purely over tor 🫠

That would do it lol

I thought it was crazy at the time but I just let it chug haha.

Mine took just an hour or two.

Man I wish I could have that. The first node I ever synced was that speed. Then every other one has been so much slower.

Oh snap, I wonder if that happened to me. How did you tell?

It was about a year ago that I did that sync. I kept coming back to it day after day to see it crawl along.

Now I'm syncing my new node on clearnet and it's halfway done in a day. And I've been planning how I want it to run purely on Tor afterwards and it hit me. If you set up your config to only allow Tor connection, you'll be rate limited by the Tor network itself. And that's a good explanation for why it took so long.

Good to know. I had a node a while back that was taking forever to sync, wonder if that was a possible cause.

Possibly. The resources on the machine do matter too. But in my start9's case, it was my old PC which wasn't bad at all.

I did sync a node in a Synology once and that WAS slow because of poor resources.

now you can mark your node like… certified organic… or something

Heirloom nodes sell for more i hear 😂

non-KYC blocks for the win!!! 😝

No one's ever gonna know where I got my Blockchain!

The first node I synced was a couple of years ago on a IBM Think Center Pentium D with 4GB RAM running Trisquel GNU/Linux with Bitcoin Core.

Took 3 months to sync over clearnet 😂🙏✊

Maaaan 😂

You can download as fast as you can but you still have to process the data haha
