Found this little guy at the bottom of my property. A long ways from water. Told the mrs so she went and got him and bought him up and is giving him water

Box turtle? You can tell for sure if you flip the little buddy over and look at the part of his shell where his "chest" is. It would have a visible "hinge" where he can shut his shell up.
In the next pic bevo posted the face and legs totally looks like a box turtle. So cute!🥰
I saw that. Considering Bevo's location I was pretty sure he was an eastern box and not a coastal like we get down here. He's frigging adorable.
thank you for caring. if it is really hot out you can prolly just drench them. like dump a glass of water on them. even if they dont seem like they were pleased it is prolly fine & they secretly were.
Kinda looks like a box turtle. Makes sense you wouldn’t find him near water, because they’re not swimmers. It may have been out hunting insects or looking for some berries grass or cactus to eat. It may have a home somewhere near where you found him!
