But is a Christian engaging in hatred of someone REALLY following Jesus, which is what it means to be a "Christian"?

Jesus said many would call Him Lord, but not do what He says do.

Jesus taught the Law.

“You shall treat the stranger who sojourns with you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself” Lev 19:34

“Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts.” Amos 5:15

He also fulfilled the Law,

and love is the fulfillment of the Law.
