I've had Windows 11 for about 5 minutes and I already hate it. 😂

How many blue screens have you ran into? 😅

I don't miss windows, haven't tried 11 though

I haven't gotten to the login screen yet because there have been several cycles of updates and signing consent forms and giving them a stool sample and the blood of a firstborn child.

Actually blue screens are something I haven't seen for a long time after windows 10. When that global shit happened, I luckily have my computer turned off 😅

Why do you hurt yourself in this way 😢

Primarily because I want a dual boot. I want to get back into making music and unfortunately ten years of ingrained Ableton habits die really fucking hard and I would like to move back to Ableton instead of Bitwig and Ableton does not have a Linux version.

Literally the only reason I'm going to have a Windows partition is so I can use Ableton.

And unfortunately, as much as I would love to use fully open source audio production and DJing tools after a few years of using them, they honestly don't hold a candle to some of the industry leading software out there.

I can't be in the middle of performing and have my shit crash for some unknown arbitrary reason. Really embarrassing when you're in the middle of a gig and you're mixing software crashes for no apparent reason.

Although I am hoping that having newer and better hardware will solve a lot of the problems and maybe I can at least do some DJing in Linux.

You can't run Microsoft flight simulator ✈️ on Linux

Pfff tel me about it. I have Windows for most of my life and all went well before 10 but now I cant prevent automatic updates. All buttons are on restricted for auto update but this fucker windows 11 still thinks he is allowed to update itself.

Luckily, this is not going to be my primary operating system. This is just going to be the music half of my computer.

Why choose dogshit. Explain yourself?

Meh read the rest of this thread. I'm not going to explain it any further.

tl;dr music.

I was in the same predicament. I ended up ditching Ableton and running FL in Wine on Linux.

I tried Bitwig for a while, and it's a decent daw. I just, I don't know, can't get over Ableton for whatever reason.

It's a great DAW I also have it installed on Linux /Wine but buggy for me unfortunately. It has certain features I miss . Luckily I had FL locked in so only needed a refresh and it's stable and updates easily.

Because it is the greatest instrument ever created!

I guess Microsoft really doesn't want you to make an offline local account on Windows anymore. This is so aggravating.

I've never actually tried it myself, but everything I know about it makes me not want to use it. It's why I've decided that after Windows 10 dies next October I'm just moving over to Linux for good. The main problem for me now is deciding which distro I want to use. On my main PC, I definitely do not want to be distro hopping.

My daily driver is Debian. I'm only using Windows for the music side of my computer.

This is honestly the first time I've touched Windows in a couple years now, now that I don't work as a Windows sysadmin anymore.
