I don't live in Venice but yes, it's really wonderful and if you know it a bit is less touristy than one might think. If you will come in this are in the future ping me, will be a pleasure to bring you to discover the best "bacari" (typical places where you can eat a sort of tapas and fish plates).

PS: In front of San Marco there is the little San Servolo island, it houses a university centre with some meeting facilities and an hotel, a wonderful place for a conference.

Side note: before the structure was a monastery (year ~800) and finally a mental hospital (year ~1860), an interesting background.
