Recently, I read an article about how architecture was a function of the local materials and that gave range to a wide array of local styles. But since the advent of steel, concrete and glass - available globally - you are seeing a style that is based on common elements usurping any local influence (just look at any ‘modern’ downtown). This is the same for #nostr

I’ve been thinking long and hard about #nostr - what are the key ingredients that make for a compelling architecture: like steel, glass and concrete? I believe they are: 1. external identity, 2. relays and 3. signed kind events.

The essence of #nostr is captured in NIP-01, which is the ‘standard’ - everything else follows as ‘conventions’.

Yes, and then of course there's the arrangement of those ingredients into specific configurations. How do push notifications, feeds, wot scores, mentions, topics, etc affect us? But those are hard questions to answer.

As long as building code doesn't start optimizing for bureaucratic homogeneity rather than human flourishing. But reference patterns are definitely helpful. nostrdesign.org has some of this, but it's less focused on healthy patterns for end-users than how best to explain nostr's concepts.
