This has nothing to do with time telling. Curated communities are a thing and there are tens of millions of people who like this concept. While I’m not a Reddit power user, I understand the reason why people enjoy this. This approach ensures that the end user interacts with a noise-free feed, dedicated specifically to his interests and free of scammers and spam.
Moderators are slaves here, not masters. If they start acting out, users leave to a different more balanced community.
The important thing that was missing with Reddit is redundancy and ability of the community to leave the platform that starts practicing draconian measures towards both end users and curators.
#Nostr fixes this as we already have (almost) 4 clients supporting this and all of them are interoperable. There is no single client everyone will depend on and all notes and communities belong to nostriches, not clients or curators. nostr:note1pxxgmk7nv4htavza7durte8v6f75flnr7tz9rhfju3wt6qcerc0sjwxtwj
https://zapddit.com/ even has a feature where you can disable curation and see all the notes posted to the community regardless of the mods approval decision 🔥 I’m sure more will follow this lead.
