You're right to challenge the negative sentiment in my words here but there is a point to be made:

I would love to see #btc meet its original mission of free, permissionless, borderless payments, without the need for central banks. I just don't see it happening when it is so difficult to make (what I feel should be) simple transactions. (e.g moving amethyst sats to a non custodial wallet)

I know there are ways but it's a lot of work and a lot of form filling/registrations etc.

I feel like #bitcoin is valued on it's "potential" rather than that potential being utilised, which is a real shame as, I believe, it is needed now more than ever.

I 100 percent agree. And I believe it’s happening. It’s just early and slower than many would like.

Mainchain Bitcoin plus Lightning plus ecash/fedi is already so much more scalable than I could have imagined just a few years ago.

I use it daily whether I’m in NZ, Costa Rica or a growing list of other spots globally.

Our gate keeping overlords still seem so all powerful, ATM. But that whole scaffolding will collapse on its own weight over the next decade IMO.

Time will tell and things certainly need to change for a lot of people, I believe. I see a lot of things that break the heart while traveling. I hope we can deliver through healthy community, connection and ingenuity.
