Zeus takes like 20-30 sec to connect to my node over TOR, and fails the first time half the time.

Tor can be unreliable. We’re going to upgrade the internal daemon soon but for now you might want to look into using Orbot instead.
Tailscale and Lightning Node Connect are also far more reliable options. Guides here:
I am not using Tor but experience the same, sometimes it does not connect until I restart the application
