After getting my first Linux machine running, recently, I wrote my first Bash script, today!

It just runs apt-update -y && apt-upgrade -y, but it was good learning experience in basics like making scripts executable and setting permission, all through the terminal. I know there are more appropriate ways to automate such task in Linux, but it was a practical application for my knowledge level.

Looking forward to continuing my Linux journey.

That's a good start, to be fair. Though the only thing I'd say is that, since this looks like Ubuntu with the Snap-only nonsense, that's why I use Mint.

Cool!

Yeah, the plan is to experiment with distros further down the line.

Thanks for the recommendation!

No worries. Ubuntu is a good start if you like Snap packaging, I will say. I don't like Snaps, which is why I use Mint (since Snap is removed by default on it and Pop).

Does Mint use a different package manager(s) or do you build packages yourself?

Mint has their own version of APT without the snap integration, which I like better than how Ubuntu does it. Snap is proprietary, so you need to be careful who you're getting Snap packages from.

Gotcha.

You're running cmatrix, so you seem to have an eye for the essentials 😁 keep going! I am confident saying that learning Linux will gift you with many "I am a Wizard!" moments
