Been using GrapheneOS for about a couple weeks now. WiFi only, no sim yet. Coming from being an iPhone user for so long, I am loving the freedom android brings.

Every app from zap.store or Obtainium so far. Trying to keep away from Google Play Store (Aurora Store) at all costs, might be a little difficult when it comes to some daily drivers I'm used to (financials and group chat apps). For those I am thinking of setting up different users and keeping permissions locked down to a minimum. Even then there still might be some tracking unfortunately.

Overall, I think I'll become a Android fan boy as time goes on. Still going to keep an iPhone around for testing any new nostr apps that come out, but I can see Graphene coming to be a daily driver in the near future. #GrapheneOS #android

I will never go back to an iPhone. Not sure how long I've been on the GrapheneOS pixel, but it's been great.

No F-Droid / Aurora Droid? I tend to first search F-Droid and zap.store, then Obtainium, then trustrusted APKs that Obtanium can't build and finally Android Studio / building it myself.

Been using Obtainium to search on F-droid/Github if I can't find it on zap.store.

Ah. I haven't noticed the option to search F-droid repos, I'm so used to just pasting GitHub / GitLab repo and hoping for the best that I haven't tried the "easy" way. It's good to know.

This is the way.

From my understanding big tech tracks us by user ID. As long as you dont log into Google, Facebook, Microsoft, etc you don't have an ID on that device. Anything they track/record etc doesn't have an ID to associate it to so it gets ignored. I do use microG anonymously and haven't seen any issues. It allows me to use any apps except CashApp and one work app. With the exception of google apps of course. I do minimize trackers just in case. You can look at app trackers here:

Super interested to see what your experience is like. This is my last iPhone. I’m going to an Android and Graphene next.

I am wondering how phones like AbovePhone work with Android/Graphene to create a “jail” for the mainstream apps that you do want to use. I have to do some research.

Aurora store is probably riskier that the (sandboxed) Play Store offered by Graphene, used with a Google account created just for that, since it simply add an actor to the supply chain.

Android 15 offers "private space" a good solution to isolate group of apps.

I need to look into the private space more. It looks like it could be decent to create bogus google account and use the sanboxed play store inside the space. A quick glance at it and it seemed like it shut down all connections when not "inside" the space.

Yes

Been 3 years and 2 Pixel on @GrapheneOs and still absolutely love it. Welcome to freedom.
