gotta make ends meet when you're inventing stuff ahead of its time...

Do you know the story of Digicash (his company)? He could've made *a ton* of money back in the 90s but he didn't and instead the company dissolved.

amazing (very old) piece on this:

How to issue a CBDC --> Embrace BITCOIN

To be fair at least that means there is a privacy advocate on a CBDC team. Sad that he doesn’t recognise that Bitcoin is the answer.

Good thing you came just in time to keep building ecash in the right direction.

Do you have any info on whether Chaum is aware of cashu and if so, what does he think about it?

I just can't figure out who - that is, what group of citizens - wants this. They seem to be wildly unpopular when the public is polled. But there's still a big push for it. Now, I understand big governments are not often responsive to the electorate. But there's not even a good cover story for CBDCs. Usually when they want to push something that citizens don't want they come up with a cover story that at least large parts of corporate media will puppet with a straight face. I don't even see that with this.

How can this be fss.

switching from personal privacy to public scrutiny is an all time low

Coercion or dementia?

I hope we can have Fiat e-cash so we can swap them privately for bitcoin
